Job Description

Position: Accountant
Summary:
The accountant is responsible for assisting the Chief Accountant in managing and maintaining the company’s financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing timely and accurate financial information to support business decision-making. The accountant will work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure the smooth operation of the accounting function.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain the company’s general ledger and subsidiary ledgers
2. Assist in preparing and reviewing of financial statements and other reports, including Management Accounts.
3. Check all prepared tax schedules and file tax returns and other compliance reports
4. Assist in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, including processing invoices, making payments, and collecting payments from customers
5. To assist in managing inventory and Fixed assets.
6. Assist in checking bank and sales reconciliation statements
7. Assist in performing financial analysis and provide insights to support business decision-making
8. Assist in developing and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
9. Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts
10. Provide support to ZRA and external auditors during audit process
11. Assist to supervise Accounts team members.
Requirements:

Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Part ZICA/ CA Zambia/ACCA/ CIMA certification
5+ years of experience in accounting or related field
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Must be a member of ZICA
Experience with accounting software and tools, preferably Paste SAGE and Excel is an added advantage
Knowledge of accounting principles and standards
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:

Manage the invoicing process, update the general ledger, and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions
Prepare quarterly budgets and review financial performance to identify areas for improvement
Produce monthly management accounts and quarterly board packs to present financial information to senior management
Manage accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid accounts
Manage accounts payable and key suppliers to ensure timely payment and accurate recording of expenses
Prepare and process monthly payroll
Ensure timely completion and submission of tax returns (PAYE, NAPSA, etc.)
Ensure that the fixed assets register is updated and reconciled
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Coordinate with the chief financial officer in the preparation of annual financial reports
Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
Use business knowledge to assess evolving risks, write high-quality reports with observations which are insightful, address the root cause, have agreed actions that fully mitigate the risk
Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required

Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Job Summary:
The Assistant Accountant will provide support to the accounting department in various areas, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory management, general ledger, and financial reporting. The Assistant Accountant will ensure that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date, and that all transactions are recorded in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Responsibilities:
1. Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
2. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions
3. Reconciling bank statements and other accounts
4. Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports
5. Assisting with the preparation of budgets and forecasts
6. Conducting regular checks of financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance
7. Responding to inquiries from internal and external customers
8. Providing support for month-end and year-end close processes
9. Perform any other duties assignment by management.
Requirements:

Diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field
2+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy  Must be a member of ZICA
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of accounting principles and standards

ACCOUNTS CLERK
QUALIFICATIONS
1 – Must possess Grade Twelve Certificate
2 – Diploma in Accounting or its equivalent.
3 – Computer Literate
4 – One Year work experience
5 – Knowledge of Pastel Accounting software or similar Financial Accounting package is an added
