Africa Forest Carbon Catalyst Program Manager

The AFCC program manager will provide project management support for the AFCC supported projects as they move through the carbon project development cycle. They will also assist the AFCC Director with coordinating activities related to AFCC program including overseeing internal approval and governance process for the program. They will work with AFCC technical staff to ensure they have required information to review, analyze, evaluate project opportunities, progress, and impact, and support the AFCC Director in the management of AFCC partner relationships. They are responsible for the management of the AFCC pipeline and portfolio consolidating project information on impacts and budgets into the portfolio level. They will help manage and track program budgets, contract & grant documentation, and review, and will help ensure compliance with internal policies on all program activities and aspects as the program expands. They track and lead reporting requirements to donors and partners and facilitates reporting by program staff for donor submission. The position assesses program progress and performance, ensuring all risks and dependencies are addressed in the AFCC operations in order to deliver successful results that support the fulfillment of the objectives.

BA/BS degree and 5 years’ experience in conservation practice or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience coordinating complex or multiple projects, including staffing, workloads and finances under deadlines.
Experience in partnership development and management with non-profit partners, community groups and/or government agencies.
Experience negotiating.
2 years of project management experience or 1 year acting as a project lead.
Completed training on project management principles.
Experience in managing and tracking multiple projects.
Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff.
Experience managing scheduling and financial aspects of small to large projects that range from short to long term.
Experience using project management techniques and tools such as Microsoft Project; and
Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and French.
