Key Accountabilities
1. Monitoring of incubation and settings
Ensuring eggs are received and stored according to standard operating procedures.
Ensuring that the Egg-rooms temperature and humidity specifications are met.
Checking of Egg Stock-book to ensure that the number of eggs received match number of eggs set, commercialized, and rejected.
Circulating of weekly setting matrices report showing the status of eggs set in machines.
2. Maintenance of Hatchery Equipment
Ensuring preventative maintenance program is adhered to for all the incubators, air handling units, generators, compressors, and vaccination machines.
Conducting random checks to ensure maintenance schedule & Bio-Security standards are adhered to.
Signing of all temperatures and humidity recordings of incubators done by the machine minders.
Responsible for organizing 3rd party service providers to conduct servicing of various equipment.
3. Investigating Hatchery Practices
Conducting root cause analysis when agreed targets of (Hatch %, cull %, HOF & 7-day mortality) are below target or if any other nonconformance occurs.
4. Biosecurity Management
Complying with biosecurity and hygiene standards as laid down in the procedures, Standard Operating procedures, and company guidelines.
Upholding company rules and regulations (Quality and food safety)
5. Leadership and Management
Managing the performance of the Hatchery through effective use of data, analysis, and problem-solving tools.
Encouraging a continuous improvement culture to develop new work practices, procedures, or the adoption of new technologies (Kaizen) that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Leading and coaching of staff Ensuring individual roles, functions and responsibilities are clearly defined and communicated
Key Requirements
Grade 12 Certificate
Diploma in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent from a reputable training institution.
Certificate or diploma in General agriculture will be an added advantage.
Must have good knowledge of Hatchery machines such as setters, incubators, chillers.
5 years work experience with 3 years minimum in the Hatchery.
Computer literacy.
Team player.

Problem solving skills.
Attention to details.
