Description

The key focus of this position is to perform & facilitate the Installation, replacement and repair of conveyor belting in the Plant as belt vulcanizing activity.
The preparation & installation of belt conveyor skirting, curtains and basic belt scrapers in the belt conveyors.
As a lead owner of belt conveyor maintenance team, maintaining the reliability of belt conveyor performance.
Perform the belt vulcanizing job of textile belts and steel cord belts including, measurement of belt, cutting of belt, splicing of belts, grinding & joint preparation, handling of vulcanizing solution and rubber etc. using the hot vulcanizing machine.
Repair maintenance vulcanizing hot patches for the local repairs, wherever required.
Installation of SS belt clamps for repair of cut belts.
Preparation & installation of Belt conveyor skirts at chute discharges and curtains at chute intakes.

Preparation & installation of basic rubber based scrapers.
Carry out pulley lagging in case of requirement.
Basic knowledge of operation & lifting ranges of Mobile crane, Forklifts and chain blocks.
Follow the Belt laying procedure in accordance to MSD.
Perform belt maintenance jobs in leading the team of helpers from the front.
Participation in all major maintenance work of conveyor belt replacement activities.
Awareness of all relevant Health & Safety procedures, and able to maintain a safe working environment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions of mobile crane.
Arrange and ensure the fitness of belt vulcanizing tools and availability.
To ensure maintenance of the belt vulcanizing machine timely through workshop & requisitions for Spare parts with Supervisor.
Ensure good housekeeping and cleanness of the work sites and the workshop and make sure that all left over material / scrap are removed and properly disposed.
Ensures the compliance with safety rules, work permit system, good working practice, proper implementation of procedures, quality and environmental requirements and regulations.
Shall participate in maintenance activities in any of the maintenance jobs in the Plant as may be decided by the DCZL management.

Requirements

10 Plus 2 school and Fitter certificates
2 years of hands-on experience in vulcanizing textile & ST belting
