Goldenlay Agri. Ltd is the largest producer, supplier and distributor of table eggs across Zambia, and boasting a brand familiar to retailers and consumers alike. Goldenlay is hereby inviting applications from suitable qualified candidates to fill the position of BUYER.
The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and buying of goods, materials and services to meet the company’s operational requirements.
Overall Purpose of the Position
Purchase of goods, materials and services to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.
Key Responsibilities

Purchase of goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations.
Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on procurement processes.
Be up-to-date with market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers making recommendations where necessary for continuous improvement.
Advice on any procurement risks or opportunities to the organisation.
Review cost reduction activities through cost analysis of new and existing costs.
Preparation of reports and updates as and when required.
Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules, as well as purchase order expediting.
Building, maintaining and managing supplier relationships with good communication.
Ensuring a consistent professional approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
Ensure compliance to all procurement guidelines, policies and procedures within the company and with regulators.
Compile and maintain a database relating to supplier performance and evaluating of suppliers’ performance for continuous improvement in the supply chain.
Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality or invoice queries and other issues.

Qualification & Experience

Degree in Purchasing and Supply Management / Procurement Management
Must be a member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply and/or Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)
Proven experience of working in a purchasing team preferably in the Poultry Industry.
Good knowledge and understanding of Procurement packages & principles.
