Silondwa Engineering Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced members of the public for the following vacant position:
CAREGIVER
PURPOSE
To be responsible for the physical care and emotional support of a Patient who can no longer care for him/herself due to illness, injury or disability.
MAIN DUTIES
(a) Assists with personal care activities or activities of daily living such as eating, bathing and grooming, dressing, toileting, and physical exercise as well as transportation and taking steps to prevent falls and help the patient stay safe and comfortable.
(b) Provides companionship to the patient in order to create opportunities to strengthen bond and connection so as to prevent feelings of loneliness.
(c) Carries out basic food preparation involved in grocery shopping, preparing meals or finding alternatives to ensure proper nutrition.
(d) Carries out housekeeping, laundry, and other errands.
(e) Provides general health care by overseeing medication/prescription usage and helps keeping track of their medication list, understanding drug interactions, and taking prescribed dosages at the right time.
(f) Helps lower patient’s risk of over medicating by creating reminder systems and monitoring his or her medications.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Grade 9
Minimum 3 years work experience in relevant field
Work experience with patients will be an added advantage
Compassion – being able to tune in to other people’s distress and feeling a desire to alleviate it
Cleanliness.
