Job Description

Zambia Civic Education Association, a not for profit, non-governmental organization that
promotes and protects children’s rights through advocacy and civic education invites interested
LOCAL CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS to be part of a national civil society child rights
monitoring observatory group.
The monitoring of children’s rights will be based on both universal and relative indicators that
take into consideration the cultural, religious, historical and social contexts of Zambian
children’s lived lives.
Interested CSOs should ideally be promoting all or selected following child rights thematic
areas:

Children’s civil rights and freedoms especially the right to birth registration;
Ending all forms violence against children;
Ending all forms of harmful practices against children;
Children’s rights to family environment and alternative care;
Rights of children with disabilities;
Children’s rights to basic health and welfare including environmental health;
Children’s rights to education, leisure and cultural activities;
Children’s rights to special protection for:

Children asylum seekers, migrant and refugee children;
Children in street situations;
Children at risk of being trafficked;
Children being exploited including child labour;
Administration of juvenile justice.
