AB Bank is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to join its Finance Department as Junior Accountant.
Summary of Job Responsibilities:
Performs bank reconciliations on a daily basis.
Account reconciliation and balance sheet management.
Tax accounting (VAT and WHT) – preparation of returns and payment instructions.
Processing of data entry of transactions into the general ledger.
Reviews batch log of all entries created prior to submission to the Accountant or manager for further review and approval of entries.
Controls all documents received from branches, other departments or correspondent banks.
Files all processed vouchers together with their supporting documents, for his/her assigned scope of work.
Checks automatic entries created by the accounting interface.
Performs automatic and manual recording of entries into the general ledger.
Prepares and encodes into the accounting module transaction entries which are lacking in the accounting interface.
Initially performs reconciliation procedures of accounts for his/her assigned scope of work (i.e. correspondent bank accounts, etc). Such reconciliation is done on a daily basis.
Performs daily reconciliations relating to electronic channels such as MoMo, Airtel Money, eTumba, etc.
On a monthly basis prepare the reconciliations of all accounts for which you are responsible and those assigned by the Financial Controller or Chief Accountant from time to time (balance sheet control).
Financial Analysis skills.
Reconciliation and controls knowledge.
Knowledge of the tax environment and banking industry and regulations.
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and a self – starter.
Minimum Qualifications:
ACCA level 2/CIMA Managerial Stage.
ZICA Licentiate or equivalent.
Diploma in Accounting or equivalent.
