Job Title: Sales and Marketing Manager or Supervisor (To depend on prior experience)
Reports to: Director
1.0 PURPOSE OF JOB POSITION
Responsible for sales and marketing of the company’s products, effective management of relationships with the company’s customers, execution of our growth agenda in the country and developing sales and marketing strategies.

Customer satisfaction
Sales opportunities created
Product performance in the market
Accounts receivable collection effectiveness
Days sales outstanding or average age of debt
Quality credit control and minimizing bad debt exposure
Distribution planning and cost saving
Problem solving and continuous improvement

3.0 DETAILED ROLES AS PER KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
General

Overseeing our current offerings and coming up with initiatives for new products or services
Building sales and marketing programs to support specific marketing objectives in support of our overall strategic marketing plan
Researching and analyzing customer insights, consumer trends, market trends, demographics, pricing schedules, competitor products, and other relevant information to build successful marketing strategies
Gathering and providing critical market intelligence and trends on pricing, new products and markets as required by management
Coordinating marketing strategies with the production, human resource and finance departments

Sales Revenue Growth

Sales and marketing of all company products
Identifying and developing new sales opportunities to grow the business
Development and implementation of a marketing plan and strategy

Customer Acquisition and Retention

Nurturing current client relationships and resolving client complaints/problems to ensure client retention.
Creating and maintaining a customer database of current and potential customers
Ensuring that all customer queries and complaints are dealt with and closed promptly, and management is updated
Maintenance and improvement of good customer relations

Market

Aligning our value proposition to the customer needs based on segmentation and differentiation
Overseeing branding, advertising, and promotional campaigns
Promoting our brand at trade shows and major industry-related events
Continuously seeking, identifying, suggesting and implementing ways to grow the business
Improving margins in a growing and performing market environment.
Proactively analyzing competitors’ capabilities and movements in the market

Distribution

Developing and implementing a distribution plan in order to maximize volume, profit and market share performance
Overseeing daily routes and improve route plans to ensure timely deliveries
Ensuring that objectives in terms of availability, visibility, volume, margin, quality and customer price of products are achieved
Ensuring all orders received from customers are fulfilled on time
Ensuring all products are available and visible on the market
Developing distribution budgets and manage expenses within the budgets
Ensuring that company transport vehicles are maintained in good working conditions

Credit Control and Cash Collection

Responsible for payment collection for the supplies/orders made
Prompt banking of all company funds collected in the line of duty
Monitoring accounts to identify overdue payments and negotiating suitable payment plans
Finding and contacting debtors to arrange debt payments by customers
Planning a course of action to recover outstanding payments that may become delinquent
Writing final notice warnings to customers when payments are not being made
Identifying delinquent accounts requiring external collection efforts and instituting legal action when customers fail to pay their debt

Reporting

Ensuring daily, weekly, monthly and annual revenue, sales and operation reports are produced, circulated and acted upon on time
Attending weekly and monthly sales meetings as and when required by management and participating in such meetings with reports based on market coverage
Ensuring timely communication of right prices and promotions within the company and to our customers
Reporting on collection activity and accounts receivable status
Ensuring all sales staff are trained before they are deployed into markets

Cost Saving

Minimizing distribution costs and overheads incurred to take our products to market
Developing cost reduction initiatives while maintaining productivity and quality
Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs
Ensuring that Company assets and resources, including distribution trucks and vans are economically used
Constantly educating sales and marketing staff on company asset care; cutting on unnecessary expenses for repairs caused by negligence, carelessness etc

4.0 Qualifications

Full Grade 12 certificate with a minimum of 5 credits
Relevant Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Management, or any commercial field from a reputable academic institution
Degree from a reputable university in a relevant field will be an added advantage
Three years of work experience in the food processing industry or FMCG
Experience in the sales and marketing of Cereals, Snacks, Cooking oil and Textured Soy Protein (Soya pieces) will be an added advantage
Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
