Job Description

ICAP-Zambia, in partnership with the National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) and the Tropical Diseases Research Center (TDRC), and with funding from the United States Government is conducting an upcoming survey to measure the prevalence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI) and associated risk behaviors among key populations in Zambia.
ICAP seeks to recruit for the following positions in Zambia by 1st November 2022, for the period of 3 months.
1. Job Title:  Site Coordinator (06)
Reports to:  Survey Coordinator
Location:  Lusaka, Chipata, Mazabuka, Mongu, Kitwe and Solwezi
Position Summary
Serve as the site team lead to provide oversight and management of data collection to determine the prevalence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and risk behaviors among key populations and their population size in the selected survey sites, with support from the ICAP/Tropical Disease Research Centre (TDRC) bio-behavioral survey (BBS) team.
Major Responsibilities

Supervise the survey site team,
Oversee compensation procedures including signing of the compensation acknowledgement forms and overseeing the safe keeping of compensation funds,
Ensure consent forms and other essential documents are properly stored in locked boxes,
Maintain daily communication with the investigators and share weekly progress reports on evaluation field activities,
Ensure all data collection equipment such as tablets and laptops are functional, and data is being upload to the server,
Request for supplies required at the site if need arises,
Oversee flow of participants at the survey site and shipment of blood specimens to TDRC central lab,
Ensure all consenting survey participants receive their test results appropriately,
Ensure all generated medical biohazard waste is shipped for incineration,
Support in conducting survey individuals   as may be required,
Conduct and produce daily field notes and daily summaries of the day and share with the Survey Coordinator,
Conduct and lead in research de-briefing meetings,
Submit completed study materials in a timely manner reporting any adverse events arising from the field work,
Observe ethical requirements in line with the study protocol including being sensitive to the dynamics of working with the key population,
Perform any other assigned duties associated with successful implementation of the survey.

Qualifications:

Full grade 12 certificate
Minimum of a Diploma in a relevant field.

Experience and Skills Required

Experience in collecting survey data through use of questionnaires,
Knowledge of and practical experience in HIV community-based research and ethical requirements,
Strong supervisory, leadership, and/or teaching or mentoring skills are required,
Prior experience in research fieldwork, especially in bio-behavioral surveys.
Strong oral and written communication skills,
Experience in handling multiple, high-priority tasks. Ability to take initiative and prioritize multiple tasks with minimum supervision,
Must comply with data security and confidentiality requirements,
Fluency in one or more local languages used in the research communities (i.e. Silozi, Chitonga, Chinyanja, Kikaonde and Cibemba),
Must have sound knowledge of IT and be able to troubleshoot equipment,
Ability to live and work in basic conditions for the entire period of data collection.

2. Position Title:  Coupon Manager (06)
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Location: Lusaka, Chipata, Mazabuka, Mongu Kitwe, and Solwezi.
Position Summary:
Support data collection tasks related to the survey, including management of coupons at the survey site.
Major Responsibilities:

Verifies eligibility of participants who present to the survey site,
Issues coupons to the participant.
Explains the peer driven recruitment using coupons.
Register, verify and manage survey coupons using an Excel-based management tool,
Administer verbal informed consent and obtain consent from eligible participants,
Identify and report adverse event(s) to the Site Coordinator,
Ensure high quality data and ethical and moral conduct to collect accurate and valid information,
Safeguard assigned data collection equipment, keeping it in good working condition and charged, ready for data collection,
Maintain high levels of confidentiality throughout the survey,
Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Full grade 12 certificate
Minimum of a Diploma in a relevant field.

 Experience, Skills Required

2-3 years of experience working in M&E in conducting social and/or health research or surveys,
Detail oriented and highly organized, able to multi-task,
Ability to adapt and work with diverse groups of people,
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice,
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications,
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills,
Fluency in English and one or more local languages (e.g. Silozi, Chitonga, Chinyanja, Kikaonde and Cibemba),
Knowledge of and practical experience working with key populations preferred.

3. Position Title: HIV Nurse Counsellor (06)
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Location: Lusaka, Chipata, Mazabuka, Mongu Kitwe, and Solwezi.
Position Summary:
Provide pre- and post-test counselling in HIV and other STIs as part of survey procedures.
Major Responsibilities:

Must have thorough knowledge on national guidelines, standard operating procedures and quality assurance systems and testing algorithms
Provide pre- and post- test counselling in HIV, syphilis, Hepatitis B (HBV), and Hepatitis C (HCV) according to national guidelines,
Refer participants who test positive for HIV, syphilis, HBV, and HCV to care,
Answer health-related questions from survey participants,
Support data entry for biomarker results,
Identify and report adverse event(s) to the Site Coordinator,
Ensure high quality data and ethical and moral conduct to collect accurate and valid information,
Safeguard assigned data collection equipment, keeping it in good working condition and charged, ready for data collection,
Maintain high levels of confidentiality throughout the survey,
Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have full grade 12 certificate
Diploma in Nursing.

Experience and skills required  

Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience,
Must have been trained in Psychosocial counselling,
Must be registered and have an up-to-date license from General Nursing Council (GNC),
Experience in clinical research or surveys preferred,
Detail oriented and highly organized, able to multi-task,
Ability to adapt and work with diverse groups of people,
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice,
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications,
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills,
Fluency in English and one or more local languages (e.g. Silozi, Chitonga, Chinyanja, Kikaonde and Cibemba),
Knowledge of and practical experience working with key populations preferred.

4. Position Title: Laboratory Technician (06)
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Location:  Lusaka, Chipata, Mazabuka, Mongu, Kitwe, and Solwezi.
Position Summary:
Conduct venous blood draw and administer rapid tests for HIV and other STIs as part of survey procedures.
Major Responsibilities:

Conduct venous blood draw from consenting participants,
Administer rapid tests for HIV, recent HIV-1 infection, syphilis, Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) according to test kit procedures and provided Standard, Operating Procedures,
Record biomarker test results,
Support data entry for biomarker results,
Identify and report adverse event(s) to the Site Coordinator,
Ensure high quality data and ethical and moral conduct to collect accurate and valid information,
Safeguard assigned data collection equipment, keeping it in good working condition and charged, ready for data collection,
Ensure proper coordination of activities between survey site and local PCR lab for viral load testing,
Ensure proper generation, segregation and disposal of laboratory waste,
Maintain high levels of confidentiality throughout the survey,
Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have full grade 12 certificate
Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences.

Experience and skills required  

Registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ),
2-3 years working experience,
Experience in biomedical research or surveys preferred,
Detail oriented and highly organized, able to multi-task,
Ability to adapt and work with diverse groups of people,
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and Good Clinical Laboratory Practice,
Concise knowledge of laboratory waste management procedures,
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications,
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills,
Fluency in English and one or more local languages (e.g. Silozi, Chitonga, Chinyanja, Kikaonde and Cibemba),
Knowledge of and practical experience working with key populations preferred.

5. Position Title: Survey Interviewer (12)
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Location: Lusaka, Chipata, Mongu, Mazabuka, Kitwe and Solwezi
Position Summary:
Support data collections tasks related to the survey, including administration of informed consent and conducting structured interviews according to protocol and standard operating procedures.
Major Responsibilities:

Verifies eligibility of candidate participants who present to the survey site,
Obtain verbal informed consent from eligible participants for (Interview, Blood collection for HIV, HBV, HCV testing.
Build rapport with survey participants,
Conduct closed-ended survey interviews with participants and accurately record responses,
Identify and report adverse event(s) to the Site Coordinator,
Ensure high quality data and ethical and moral conduct to collect accurate and valid information,
Safeguard assigned data collection equipment, keeping it in good working condition and charged, ready for data collection,
Maintain high levels of confidentiality throughout the survey,
Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have a full grade 12 certificate
Diploma in a relevant field.

Experience and skills required

2-3 years of experience in conducting social and/or health research or surveys,
Demonstrated experience in conducting closed-ended interviews preferred,
Detail oriented and highly organized, able to multi-task,
Ability to adapt and work with diverse groups of people,
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice,
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications,
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills,
Fluency in English and one or more local languages (e.g. Silozi, Chitonga, Chinyanja, Kikaonde and Cibemba),
Knowledge of and practical experience working with key populations preferred.

6. Position Title: Community Mobilizer (06)
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Location: Lusaka, Chipata, Mazabuka, Mongu Kitwe, and Solwezi
Position Summary:
Collaborate with the Site Coordinator and the team in mobilizing participants for a bio-behavioral survey with key populations within the social network and ensure safety and security is granted to the participants.
Major Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Site Coordinator in mobilizing survey participants,
Ensure survey participants are made aware of the survey,
Ensure safety and security is granted to the survey participants,
Ensure mobilized survey participants are being recruited in the survey,
Oversee flow of participants at the survey site,
Debrief and submit reports to the site coordinator time-to-time in all community mobilization activities,
Observe ethical requirements in line with the study protocol including being sensitive to the dynamics of working with key populations,
Perform any other assigned duties associated with successful implementation of the survey,
·       Respond and answer to queries about the survey in the community by potential participants,
Assist in scheduling appointments,
Assist in screening potential survey participants coming to the survey,
Engagement of community on issues affecting the survey implementation.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have a full grade 12 certificate
Diploma in a relevant field.

Experience and Skills Required

Experience working with key populations communities will be an added advantage,
Experience working in biobehavioral surveys with a focus on recruitment of study participants,
Strong community mobilization skills are required,
Demonstrate experience organizing and managing workflows to meet schedules and requirements,
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills,
Speak in a clear, pleasant, and understandable voice,
Ability to establish and nurture beneficial relationships during surveys.
Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative and solve complex problems.
Capability to network, negotiate with, and influence a range of stakeholders from leaders to vulnerable groups
Member of a key population preferred.
Fluency in English and one or more local languages (Silozi, Chitonga, Chinyanja, Kikaonde and Cibemba)

7. Position Title: Receptionist (06)
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Location: Lusaka, Chipata, Mazabuka, Mongu, Kitwe and Solwezi.
Position Summary:
Support administrative tasks related to the survey, including coordination of appointment visits and management of participant flow at the survey site.
Major Responsibilities:

Manage participant flow,
Schedule, verify and coordinate survey appointment visits,
Review participant checklists for completion,
Fills in the waiting list,
Verifies the coupon,
Create participant’s file,
Direct participants to the Coupon manager’s office,
Answer phone calls,
Maintain high levels of confidentiality throughout the survey,
Carry out other administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have a full grade 12 certificate
Minimum of a certificate in front office operations or a related field.

Experience and Skills Required

Demonstrated experience in supporting research studies will be an added advantage,
Detail oriented and highly organized, able to multi-task,
Ability to adapt and work with diverse groups of people,
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications,
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills,
Member of a key population preferred,
Fluency in English and one or more local languages (Silozi, Chitonga, Chinyanja, Kikaonde and Cibemba).

8. Position Title: Office Assistant (06)
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Location: Lusaka, Chipata, Mazabuka, Mongu, Kitwe, and Solwezi.
Position Summary:
The Office Assistant at the site office has the primary responsibility for cleaning the offices and sanitary rooms following sanitation and hygiene standard procedures. Inform the Site Coordinator of any potential problems, equipment shortages, or unsafe conditions.
Major Responsibilities:

Knowledge of cleaning tools, sterilization, proper storage and disposal methods,
Excellent Communication skills and ability to work as a team,
Self-Motivation and ability to work under minimal supervision,
Ability to handle office equipment and machinery,
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies,
Familiarity with Safety Rules,
Integrity and ability to work independently,
Remove and secure domestic and biohazardous waste safely and appropriately in readiness of collection,
Maintain an environment of participant, team member, and employer confidentiality.

Qualifications:

Full grade 12 certificate

Experience and Skills Required

Knowledge of and practical experience working with key populations preferred,
Possess good customer care service skills,
Possess the ability to adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities; be flexible,
Be a team player with good interpersonal skills,
1 year of experience as a cleaner, preferably in a healthcare or laboratory setting.
