Job Summary/Purpose
To monitor, analyze and respond appropriately to SCADA system alarms and other data; to help control mass and water balance through the plant and subsequent distribution lines such as the final disposal lines, and disseminate such data variances in time to Plant Controllers/Plant Metallurgists as well as perform related duties as required by your supervisor.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor, analyze and respond appropriately to alarms and data from the SCADA system related to;
1. Crushing Units have;

Primary, secondary and cone crushers are running accordingly
Cone crusher bin levels are monitored and are within range
The units are run at maximum for optimum input

2. Primary, secondary, regrind and cobalt mills have;

Correct mill discharge densities
Correct water flow to dilute the densities
Correct feed throughput
Correct feed tank levels
Pumps around the mills are running
Power draw by the mill is within acceptable range
Mass and water balance are in sync per mill

3. Leach Tanks have;

Correct feed densities to leach tanks
Correct tank levels
Correct acid flow into the system
Correct pH for the leach tanks
Correct temperature for Leach 1 and 2
Correct oxygen flow to leach tanks 1 & 2
Agitators and pumps around the leach are running smoothly
Mass and water balance are in sync

4. CCD Plant

Correct floc dosages
Feed and underflow densities are within spec
Low TSS in the overflow volume
Correct thickener bed
Mass and water balance in sync
Rakes, dilution pumps, torque, underflow pumps all running accordingly

5. Flotation Plant

Cells are running smoothly and the correct cell level
Mass and water balance in sync
Correct feed densities
Correct tails densities
Correct chemical dosing
Correct pH for the feed

6. SX and TH plants;

Correct PLS and raff pond levels
Correct flow to SX
Correct flow to TH

7. Ad hoc jobs.
Key Requirements 
Education and Work Experience

A minimum working experience of 1 year, as a section Metallurgist or control room operator
Holder of a grade 12 certificate;
Degree/diploma in Metallurgy/Chemical/ Electronics/Compute Engineering plus any other qualification will be an added advantage
Valid Silicosis Certificate
