Productivity Improvement Trainer
Lumwana Mine, Solwezi, Zambia.
Reporting to: Mining Training
Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the Northwestern region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km southwest of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking to recruit highly committed employees for the position of Productivity Improvement Trainer to join Underground Production teams in other Barrick sites in Africa.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Coordinator – Mining Training, you will be responsible for conducting excavator/ shovel productivity improvement analysis, closing gaps-based on business need and training both in field and simulated environment.
Responsibilities
Implementation of comprehensive training programs designed to ensure all excavator & shovel operators are given high skill levels, knowledge and expected attitude to achieve excellence in the mine equipment operations.
Conduct daily machine productivity analysis on all loading units during operations, in a safe and productive manner to meet LMC operating standards
Identify and rectify setbacks to productivity of excavators and shovels
Support the compliance to the Operator Competency Scorecard.
Maintain a pro-active approach to all aspects of productivity and behavioral safety and, encourage teamwork within the department in line with Lumwana Mining Company values
Minimise costs through efficient operations by providing expertise.
Manage equipment through coaching and mentoring of team members to emulate good standards
Assist with incident investigations as and when required
Experience & Qualifications
Grade 12 certificate
Diploma or related qualification in training and assessment
Five (5(years’ experience in mining environment
Certificate of competence in both excavators and shovels
Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, power point presentations and spreadsheet applications.
Must have sound Knowledge of safe working procedures and mine operations
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Previous experience in a similar role will be an added advantage
