Howard University international incorporated, under the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Global Health Consortium (GHC) is a PEPFAR funded Non-Governmental Organization that Leverages on health service equity approaches to achieve sustainable HIV epidermic control and prioritizes sub population with unmet needs through evidence-based approaches designed to transform clinical HIV practice.
Howard University’s mandate in Zambia is to support the Ministry of Health (MOH) in implementation of Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD-plus) in selected high-volume public health care facilities. The goal of this mandate is to improve Quality of ART care, improve viral load coverage and suppression, continuity of treatment & adherence, linkage to care, pharmacovigilance system, compliance with appointment system and to facilitate clinic decongestion through a multi-disciplinary team approach.
Key performance areas
Coordinate DSD – plus activities and create awareness on the need to assess all ART clients and enrol those who are eligible on the DSD plus model
Conduct training, orientation & provide hands on onsite mentorship to facility staff in HIV programming.
Collaborate with PHO, DHO and other IPs in DSD plus activity implementation to ensure quality of service.
Consolidate and provide weekly DSD data summary and data sets for decision making.
Provide support to DSD team at facility level.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
At least 3 years of experience in implementing donor-funded HIV projects in a public setting
Experience in practical execution of HIV projects including community-based projects
Experience in donor-oriented report writing
Experience working with differentiated service delivery of HIV care
Registered with relevant health councils and certified to provide professional health service in Zambia
Knowledge on current HIV treatment guidelines including adherence support and ADR monitoring.
Computer literate including skills in smartcare
Understanding of health facility screening tools, registers, client’s files and other necessary health documents
Qualification and Experience
Degree/Diploma in relevant qualification including clinical medicine, pharmacy and nursing
