About the OrganisationRegistered under The Non-Government Organisation Act of 2009 through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, the Climate Smart Agriculture Alliance Zambia (CSAAZ) under the guidance of Ministry of Agriculture is designed to support the rapid adoption of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) in Zambia through collaborative efforts and practical experiences of Alliance members in the agricultural sector in Zambia.The Alliance derives its mandate from the Zambian Government being party to the Equatorial Guinea Malabo Declaration, at which the Heads of States and Governments of the African Union Committed to Enhancing Resilience of Livelihoods and Production Systems to Climate Variability and other related risks. Through the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), the Alliance was tasked to develop a strategy that will ensure that, by the year 2025, at least 30% of our farm, pastoral, and fisher households are resilient to climate and weather-related risks.With funding from World Wide Fund for nature (WWF) to support activities under the Voices of Climate Change (VCA) project, the CSAAZ is looking for qualified, experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the positions of Program, Policy and Advocacy Officer to be based in Lusaka.Position Purpose:To lead the planning, execution and monitoring of CSAA Zambia policy influencing and governance strategy to secure political commitments and strategic partnerships that support Zambia’s strategic CSA priorities. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of CSA Zambia’s partnership approach with government, private sector and CSOs.Key Responsibilities:Provide technical support in the development of natural resources governance and policy programmes/initiatives in line with national priorities and CSA international governance practice broad goals for transformative change.Identify and advocate for the mainstreaming and alignment of Climate Smart Agriculture Policy and Governance related initiatives within the country, regional and CSA global strategic and action plans as well as Global Initiatives Governance and policy needsDirectly supports and contributes to CSAAZ performance monitoring systems;Provides programmatic support and technical advice to project teams and field staff in responding to policy and governance initiatives and opportunities including constitutional, policy and legislative processes;Leads in the assessments, tracking and reporting of progress against strategic goals relating to policy and governance programme implementation and action plans including quality assurance and capacity building.Skills, Knowledge and Experience:3 to 5 years of experience at management level in a similar role influencing policy at national, regional, and global levels securing political commitments that support natural resource governance or sustainable development outcomes.Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, plan and implement strategic initiatives within the context of climate change interventions Conservation’s agriculture, natural resource management, international development, and/or other related fields.Policy development and policy influencing skills and experienceComputer Literacy: Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications.Minimum Qualifications:Relevant academic qualifications, preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy development, natural resource management studies, climate change and sustainable development studies, development studies and Project management or any related course.Master’s degree in Policy and international relations, development studies, social sciences, or management and training or related field will be an added advantageMethod of ApplicationCandidates that meet the required qualifications and experience are to send their Application Letters, motivation letter and Latest Curriculum Vitae with Three traceable references to the following email: Address your application to:The National Coordinator,Climate Smart Agriculture Alliance Zambia,Lusaka 10100, Please note that the alliance has a zero tolerance on sexual harassment and abuse.
