Job Description

Midwives Association of Zambia (MAZ) is a voluntary professional organisation for all midwives in Zambia. It is a member of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), an accredited non-governmental organisation that represents midwives worldwide in order to achieve common goals in the care of mothers and newborns. The MAZ is also a member of the Confederation of African Midwives Associations (CONAMA).
Currently, the MAZ is implementing an ICM driven Midwifery Services Framework (MSF) project in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the United Nations Development Fund (UNFPA). One of the focus areas is system strengthening of the MAZ through enhanced resource mobilisation for its activities.
The MAZ is looking for a qualified consultant or consulting firm to develop a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy, considering the current global donor landscape, identify new actors, explore new funding modalities, and outline a strategic approach to leveraging existing and new partners. The Consultant will also support development of a transitional readiness plan to ensure MAZ transitions from donor dependency to mobilisation of local resources for projects and ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization.
OBJECTIVE
To develop fundraising proposals, a resource mobilization strategy and a transitional readiness plan sustainability of the association.
SCOPE OF WORK FOR THE CONSULTANT(S)
1. Review the MAZ Strategic Plan, 2020 – 2024 and resource mobilisation policy to better understand the needs and help position the association for resource mobilisation.
2. Draft four (4) fundraising proposals.

Conduct training in Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) and high-impact midwifery competencies for midwifery educators, practising midwives and student Midwives.
Source Scholarships grants for midwives interested in becoming midwifery educators and obtaining BSc in Midwifery and Masters in Midwifery

3. Train the National Executive Committee members in resource mobilisation
4. Develop a Resource mobilisation strategy
5. Develop guidelines to maintain strategic partnerships and engagement with key donors.
6. Develop a transitional Readiness plan
DELIVERABLES
1. Four (4) fundraising proposals
2. Resource mobilisation strategy
3. Guidelines for maintaining partnerships and engagement with key donors
4. Transitional readiness plan
5. Training report of the NEC members in resource mobilisation.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERINCE AND COMPETENCIES

Degree in Social Sciences, Development, Planning, Business Administration, Communication, or a related field. Masters’ degree preferable
At least ten years’ experience in the development sector – preferably on gender equality and Women and Newborn issues.
Proven experience and success in developing business models and mobilising funds for civil society and local non-governmental organizations.
Excellent knowledge of key donors focused on low and middle-income Countries.
Strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Proficiency in English.
Knowledge of Zambia’s developmental, political and socio-cultural context
Excellent report writing, communication, interviewing and computer skills
Experience in working with people of various cultural and social backgrounds.

A Curriculum Vitae (CV) showing experience relevant to the consultancy
 A technical proposal not exceeding four pages detailing:

Understanding of the ToR
An outline of the methodological approach for the assignment
Activity schedule
A budget
Three (3) References
DURATION OF THE CONSULTANCY

The consultancy will be for a maximum of 20 working days
The Consultant will report to the Resource Mobilisation Officer on the technical aspect of the assignment and will be supervised by the MAZ National Executive Committee

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The individual consultant should have a TPIN
The Consultant firm must be legally registered and have a valid tax clearance certificate from the relevant regulatory authorities and a TPIN
The proposal and supporting documents must be submitted in English.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE
The fees will be paid upon receipt of an invoice from the Consultant/firm/institution, with the bank details.
40% payment. after submission and approval of the draft
60% payment will be delivered upon submission and approval of the final documents
Only short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview to assess their understanding of the ToR.
