Job Description

Our client in the chemical industry in looking to recruit a Sales and Marketing Manager. This is a Senior role within the organization and takes overall responsibility of the Sales and Marketing function and researching, developing and implementing current and new sales plans. Thi includes management and building of a high performance Sales and Marketing team for the accomplishment of monthly and annual sales targets.
In liaison with the Managing Director, the Sales and Marketing Manager will plan the development, promotion and sale of the organisation’s goods and services including but not limited to coming up with a Marketing plan, Marketing Budget and Sales Strategies for long term business success. The role will work closely with the Senior Management team in the development and monitoring of Metrics for sales and organisational growth.

Prepare and manage annual sales and marketing plans through continuously researching and developing marketing opportunities, understanding consumer requirements, identifying market trends, and suggesting system improvements to achieve the company’s sales and marketing goals.
Research and identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services – or new ways of reaching existing markets.
Implementation of Sales strategies to achieve revenue generation, increase of market share and overall business growth for the company.
Manage, mentor and develop a high performance Sales Team to help them achieve and surpass requisite targets and oversee day-to-day sales, take charge of quotations and monitor customer response metrics.
Prepare and monitor annual budgets for the Sales and Marketing function and provide monthly Budget v Actual reports. Assist in preparation of the Organization’s annual budget by providing monthly Sales and Gross profit forecasts.
Management and promotion of all Chemsol brands and those of our principles (ESCO, Merck and Metrohm) to all stakeholders including but not limited to staff, customers, suppliers, bankers, and the general public.
Implementing new sales plans and advertising by providing and monitoring periodic content/promotions for all ccommunication channels, including amongst others but not limited to the company’s websites, social media accounts and monthly newsletters.
Constant liaison with Principals on pricing, customer enquiries, new marketing initiatives and for marketing materials.
Manage and work closely with the Customer Service Desk and ensure that all customer queries and complaints are responded to and the development of relevant SOPS to ensure that issues are resolved quickly and constant feedback is given to customers on their deliveries.
Work closely with other departments involved in the supply chain to ensure timely procurement of goods and services required to expeditiously fulfill customer orders and requirements.
Create a sales pipeline, plan sales campaigns, generate leads and cold call prospective customers, discuss promotional strategies and activities with management, and increase personal accountability, improve forecasting and track performance versus competition.
Sales Team Management by communicating clear job expectations, monitoring and evaluating performance as well as training and motivating sales team.
Ensure continuous professional development of entire Sales and Marketing team through staying current in the industry by arranging and attending trainings with Principals (ESCO, Merck and Metrohm), educational opportunities, conferences, and workshops, reading publications, and maintaining personal and professional networks.
Provides information by collecting, analysing, and summarizing data and trends through periodic market research, marketing intelligence and competitor analysis.
Monitor CRM systems and analysing customer feedback data to determine whether customers are satisfied with company products and services and development of initiatives to meet customer needs and for retaining clients and incorporate it into the growth plan.
Play a role in determining pricing schedules for quotes, promotions and negotiations.
Prepare and schedule new/old customer visits and meetings to build loyalty and increase sales. Give sales presentations to a range of prospective clients and coaching and developing Sales Team on Sales Pitching.
Prepare and submit monthly and annual reports


Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field, Postgraduate studies such a MBA or membership to ZIM and IMM will be an added advantage.
Technical background and understating of life science products, laboratory equipment or Industrial chemicals.
Ability to analyze the competition and the industry in general to generate reports for management and for development of Sales and Marketing Strategies.
Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close and leadership and Mentoring skills for a team of a professionals.
At least 8 years’ field experience is sales and marketing of which 3 are in management preferably in the same industry.
