Senior Human Resource Management Position
Profile of Organization
Our client is a global humanitarian organization operating in Zambia. Their Christian witness is seen in communities where they provide sanitation and hygiene education through their core competencies of stakeholder mobilization to achieve behavior change, improve sanitation infrastructure, and support water supply development. Their vision is to achieve to their God given mandate and reach more communities in Zambia.
Ensuring the smooth running of the human resource functions of the Program Area and making sure that the Program Area is in adherence to internal policies and Zambian labour laws.
Reporting and Place of Performance
The Senior Human Resources Officer will be based in Chipata and shall report to the Project Manager with a matrix reporting line to the Head of Human Resource and Administration in Head Office.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Handle contractual arrangements for new, continuing and exiting staff.
Manage staff induction and probation periods at the Program Area.
Establish personnel files ensuring that necessary information is available and are appropriately filed.
Respond to human resources-related staff queries and concerns at the Program Area..
Advise the Program Area Management on all aspects of the Labor related matters.
Implement the organization’s human resources policies and ensure compliance by all staff at the Program Area.
Track staff movements and communicate any monthly changes to payroll to the Human Resources Manager.
Contribute towards promoting and adhering to organization’s purpose, Statement of Faith, core values and operating procedures.
Facilitate the development of organizational culture that is in line with organization’s vision, mission, and display Christian core values.
Facilitate the creation of the conducive work environment by overseeing the health and safety of all staff.
Prepare and manage the annual Program Area Human Resource budget and participate in the budgeting process ensuring that all human resource plans at the Program area are included.
Staff development and other team building activities at the Program Area.
Maintain project organizational chart update regularly.
Monitoring general staff performance and attendance.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience Competencies
Degree in Human Resource, Business Administration or related field.
5 years’ experience as Human Resource Practitioner or related experience.
A member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management and must possess a valid practicing license.
Good understanding of Zambian Labour laws.
Good experience of running recruitment campaigns including knowledge of competency based interviewing.
Ability to advise, support and where necessary counsel staff on HR-related issues.
Experience with an international Non-governmental organization is a definite advantage.
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to develop and revise policies, Job Profiles and other human resource systems.
Strong in developing human and administrative systems.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
