Job Description

Northern Opticians and eye clinic is a Zambian private sector business fully owned by Zambian Nationals and supervised by the Health Professional Council of Zambia (HPCZ) the regulatory body for medical practices. This company is run and managed by a team of Young and dynamic professional Optometrists and allied Business Executives with a mission of providing an integrated eye care system that seeks to meet the needs of every person in need of Eyecare service in Zambia using our motto (Your eyes, Our priority).
We now need the services of the following
1. SENIOR OPTOMETRIST – LUSAKA
Responsibilities

Document history including complaint and relevant symptoms, ocular health, medication usage, medical and family history, current vision aide if applicable, and any other pertinent data
Examine eyes using observation, pharmaceutical agents, and instruments to determine visual perception, acuity, coordination, and focus.
Analyze test results, document diagnosis, and develop a treatment plan; including referrals, therapeutic prescriptions, and long-term medical management, in patients’ charts
Prescribe and fit vision aids such as contact lenses and eyeglasses and other vision aids
Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements, and safety factors
Maintain appropriate inventory on frames and lenses
Advise management and report on the best possible strategies for business growth

Other Requirements

Must be a registered member with HPCZ
Knowledge of Microsoft office packages is added advantage

Qualifications

Diploma in Optometry
Bachelor in Optometry or Any ophthalmic related qualification is an added advantage
Registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia/General Nursing Council of Zambia
Holder of a valid Practicing License
Minimum two (2) years of work experience
Knowledge of Microsoft office packages is an added advantage

2. OPTICAL TECHNICIAN – LUSAKA
The optical technician will prepare high-quality spectacles and lenses that meet the specifications on the prescription and attend to all spectacle queries. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities:

Prepare work orders to the optical laboratory that relate to the grinding and mounting of lenses in the chosen frames
Use measuring devices to take client measurements including bridge and eye sizes, vertex distance, pupillary distance, temple length, optical eye centers for sizes for eyeglasses
Verify that finished lens spectacles match the optical prescription and order placed
Make adjustments to frame and lens position to fit a client’s facial structure; shape or reshape frames by heating, shaping, or bending plastic and metal frames
Arrange and maintain optical merchandise displays
Maintain records of client prescriptions, payments, and work orders sent to the laboratory
Verification of prescriptions with the examining Optometrist or Eye Specialist
Make recommendations for specific types of lenses, lens coatings, and frames according to the clients’ needs
Handle administrative duties that include tracking inventory, recording sales, submitting patient insurance information, bookkeeping and client records
Fabricate lenses in accordance with prescription requirements

Qualifications

Trade certificate is preferred in drafting, art, science, mathematics, and computer technology can increase career opportunities.
Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience
Be confident using computer-controlled machinery and software packages.
Be able to work quickly and accurately and meet exacting production standards.
Be able to understand prescriptions and produce lenses that meet individual specifications.
Have good communication and customer service skills

3. FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICER – LUSAKA
Responsibilities

Responsible for monitoring the financial progress of the business such as evaluating the variance between budgeted and actual expenditures, and giving advice on the remaining budget available
Responsible for managing petty cash for all the different branches and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of financial reports, including cash book management, and posting of transactions into the computer system accounting package
Preparing and maintaining the Asset registers for the branches and periodically reviewing and preparing inventories of the assets
Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to Financial Reporting Standards.
Responsible for procurement of project goods and services approved by the different offices
Responsible for the administration of insurance, contracting, and administrating services in accordance with the institution’s standards and policies.
Support the different branch staff in coordinating and facilitating all finance and administration tasks for each projec
Support where possible, the field team in facilitating their work such as but not limited to, data entry, data analysis, transportation of staff to field sites
Assist the staff with the day-to-day running of each branch, ensuring that office requisites and equipment are in place for all staff to perform their duties
Inventory management and stocks control
Ensure tax & other statutory returns are submitted & paid on time
Cash management and ensuring controls are in place that will ensure efficient cash reconciliation
Payroll preparation and many other duties which can be assigned by management from time to time.

Qualification:

Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Minimum two (3) years of experience in a similar position
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

Additional Requirements:

A valid Driver’s License will be an added advantage.
