Background
African Parks is a non-profit conservation organization founded in 2000 that manages 19 national parks and protected areas in 11 countries covering 14 million hectares.  This is achieved through long-term agreements with national governments, putting in place funding solutions and establishing good governance and management to achieve ecological, social and financial sustainability. The funding strategy is developed in line with the organization growth and includes public institutional donors as a significant segment. The associated grants management complexity poses a number of financial, legal and reputational risks.
Job Overview
The Special Project Manager role is primarily to provide support to the Park Manager and Park Management Unit (PMU) with the daily operations of the park, assist with internal and external relationship management, and manage and oversee the implementation of special projects along with its reporting.
Key Responsibilities: 

Manage end to end delivery of identified projects.
Support with Preparation of 5-year Business Plan.
Support in preparation of annual activity plan.
Manage primary donors’ relations and grants, including proposal preparation, donor reporting, and compliance monitoring.
Support and advise Tourism Team where applicable on social media, Marketing and hospitality linked activities.
Support the community team in Valuing and documenting community efforts and income.
Be the front along with PM to donors and support any donor visits. 

Competencies, qualifications and experience needed for the role: 

Bachelor’s degree in project management
Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the region in donor relations, tourism or conservation at a senior level.
Clean driving license held for minimum 5 years
Proficient in English spoken and written
Good computer/technology skills – MS Office, social media, websites
Strong project management skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Results orientated and highly resilient
Strong team player
Experience with donor grant management, proposals and reporting
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Good communication and reporting skills
Ability to work in remote or isolated areas,
Ability to work under pressure and overtime
