Energy poverty is one of the main development issues stunting economic growth and poverty alleviation of millions of Zambians. According to the recent studies only 35% of households in the urban areas and 16% in the rural areas have access to clean energy sources for cooking and lighting.
People in Need (PIN) – a non-governmental organization established in the Czech Republic with its permanent representation in Zambia is implementing a project titled “Strengthened local partnerships of PIN Zambia for improved access to green energy.” PIN and its local partners People’s Process on Housing and Poverty in Zambia (PPHPZ) and Keepers Zambia Foundation (KZF) address the issues of energy poverty in rural and urban contexts in Zambia by engaging vulnerable communities and various stakeholders in piloting and scaling up green, modern solutions such as biodigesters.
PIN is currently looking for a consultant to develop a study on Energy Poverty in Zambia with emphasis on coping strategies and the way forward.
