DEPARTMENT & LOCATION:
Property Maintenance, Lusaka
JOB PURPOSE:
The respective position holders will be responsible for inspecting and completing maintenance works in their field of expertise and working on various construction projects within the Rhodes Park Schools Group of Companies. Each Tradesman is responsible for keeping a building and facilities operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Taking responsibility of specialised duties whilst carrying out major projects or whilst undertaking routine works.
Investigate respective specialised works that require specific attention, and make necessary arrangements for action to be taken.
Plan and schedule repairs
Conduct periodic quality checks on buildings, facilities, equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.
Take stock of pending works and report to the supervisor
Performing routine maintenance works such as fixing structural damage, and installation of fittings.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
Maintain the inventory of repairs materials and keep records of repair works.
Make requisitions via supervisor of materials and equipment needed to undertake maintenance tasks.
Act as de factor project supervisor to independent contractors on projects in your specialised area of focus.
Cost effectively produce superior quality work from all projects or routine works assigned.
Help develop and implement the maintenance budget in specialized area
Take up and perform specialised emergency works that might be caused by unforeseen happenings; this may include night times.
Give specialised technical advice and/or insight to the supervisor prior or during the performance of specific tasks.
Perform any other assigned duties.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL COMPETENCIES:

Full Grade 12 certificate
At least a College Certificate in the Specialized field of application
Must have practical experience of at least 2 years with good references
Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques
Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings
Must be well-organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks
Good administrative and interpersonal skills, and communication skills – both oral and written
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills
Must hold high levels of integrity and professionalism
Must be Creative, Flexible, Transparent, Hardworking and enthusiastic approach towards work
